One American Success Story – Steve Schwarzman

Here briefly, is the success story of Stephen A. Schwarzman. In 2008 Steve was listed as the 53rd most wealthy person in the US by Forbes Magazine, however it’s his tremendous rise to power in the domain of finance and his donations to the arts that make this tale intriguing. Steve’s life has inspired individuals all over the world and in addition he has used his wealth to change many people’s lives, too. The Blackstone Group was set up by Steve Schwarzman and his business partner Peter Peterson as a business extending investment advice and equity management. Of course, the Blackstone Group expanded into the world famous company it is presently. Steve spent his childhood in surburban Philadelphia. When he finished high school he chose an undergraduate degree course at the famed Yale University in Connecticut. He undertook a program of post graduate study at the widely respected Harvard Business school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Next he would join the corporate team at the well-known investment bank Lehman Brothers. Steve was assigned the title of managing director at the age of only thirty-one.

Steve Schwarzman donates to a range of educational programs as well as consulting as an adjunct professor at the illustrious Yale School of Management. To name but another example of his activities, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts. On top of all that, Steve recently gave the New York Public Library $100 million to help fund their building program. They also called their new extension after him. So you won’t be surprised to learn, America’s elite look at Steve for encouragement – he was mentioned as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on the planet in acknowledgement of his many attainments and influence on the financial sector. His rise in the financial sector has been amazing, and no doubt his willingness to donate to the community has set business leaders a new benchmark to attain to from now on.
