Pixie sparkles onstage in support of the Saturdays

The Saturdays, according to the Scotsman, have outdone themselves on the first date of their first live tour, “although, threatening to muscle in” on their enthusiastic fan base is “Pixie Lott, a diminutive 18-year-old Essex lass in huge heels and a spangly leotard.”

A review of the Saturdays’ first show featuring support Pixie Lott likens the “Mama Do” singer to Hannah Montana, and “with a big R&B voice, she’s tipped for superstardom and has the lungs to prove it.”

Particularly impressive in this era of pop music is that both the Saturdays and Pixie Lott sang live – something that is not often seen throughout the duration of live performances. Britney, for example, is notorious for shamelessly lip synching to backing tracks during live shows. This seems to have been deemed an unnecessary evil by the girl group and Pixie Lott – who have the vocal stamina to impress during these touring gigs.

Pixie has been working toward this – her first tour – for some time. She’s had about two years’ worth of working in recording and dance studios already, and the singer is continuously saying how exciting it is to finally be sharing her hard work with actual people, and those people seem to be responding just as excitedly to Pixie and her unique flavor of soul-pop.

Next week the singer is set to officially unleash her debut single, “Mama Do,” on the world – though it’s already gained a substantial following through its video on YouTube and the radio airplay it has already received.

Another wave Pixie has been riding is her cover of the Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” – a video of the singer belting out the ballad has been more than popular with YouTube viewers.
